LAUNCH CEREMONY FOR THE 3RD IC DESIGN COMPETITION FOR SMART CITY IN 2026

The competition is identified as a crucial link in transforming policy into action through innovation, and a practical solution for training future engineers, contributing to the realization of the goal of 9,000 semiconductor professionals for Ho Chi Minh City and 50,000 engineers nationwide by 2030. It also serves as a strategic springboard to propel Vietnam’s semiconductor ecosystem from “potential” to “strength,” bringing “Make in Vietnam” products to the regional level and international integration.
With the theme “Green Chips for Smart Cities,” the competition not only poses technical challenges but also focuses on community responsibility, encouraging energy-optimizing solutions, improving efficiency, and promoting sustainable urban development.

A key innovation for 2026 is the division of competition into separate categories for students, businesses, and enterprises. This change optimizes access for young people to an “open circle of innovation,” allowing each group to develop along a specialized and suitable path. Simultaneously, an award honoring businesses applying electronic microchips will be launched to spread the competitive value of Vietnamese technology.
With a nationwide scope, the competition continues its mission of nurturing passion and realizing research results, closely linking the State – Schools – Enterprises model to transform creative ideas into practical technological solutions.
